Decisions Decisions

November is upon us! this pic is from Jane station, i was helping a friend of mine with his homework. He taught me a lot about photography. I've never had the privilege to take a photography course to maximize my fancy camera's abilities. dont click on it, nothing much to see, we were making a photo essay about different subway stations. it was interesting to see the circumstances of each station and how some ppl naturally get in a line and other people just crowd around the bus entrance.

anyways the title of today's duckpond blog is decisions decisions. November, has quickly been a month of decisions for me. perhaps paul, eugene, ryan and pastor yang have decisions in their lives as well.

we recently had our "lock'in". i was so tired, what a hectic night. but i must say that was a really good movie, although i've seen denzel washington play that same character too many times now. but all in all still a good movie. i'm a fan of forest whittaker. i hope you guys remembered what we talked about after the movie was done, although my conscience tells me u guys were too aloof to remember, ahha. one last thing i want to mention to all the negative nancy's out there. the things me and helena organize for you, yes sometimes are stupid, but dont say that. sorry we're not as entertaining as TV and we cant provide some hard-hitting ultra entertaining msg to give u guys each week. but what we teach u is only as good as how into it u are. have an open mind and enjoy what it is that we're trying to give u and maybe then will u see the bigger picture.

i wrote in a blog that i read a very good devotion and i wanted to share it with you guys so here it is. also, we're possibly having a new website where everyone can post so please stay tuned as we work it out.

After God's SIlence--what?

John 11:6

"Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days"

Has God trusted you with a silence--a silence that is big with meaning? God's silences are His answers. Think of these days of absolute silence in the home at Bethany! is there anyhting analogous to those days in your life? Can God trust you like that, or are you sitll asking for a visible answer? God will give you the blessings you ask if you will not go any further without them; bit His silence is the sign that He is bringing you into a marvelous understanding of Himself. Are you mourning before God because you have not had an audible response? You will find that GOd has trusted you in the most intimate way possible, with an absolute silence, not of despair, but of pleasure, because He saw that you could stand a bigger revelation. If God has given you a silence, praise Him, He is bringing you into the great run of His purposes. The manifestation of the answer in time is a matter of God's soverignity. Time is nothing to God. For a while you said--"I asked God to give me bread, and He gave me a stone." He did not, and today you find He gave you the bread of life.

A wonderful thing about God's silence is that he contagion of His stillness gets into you and you become perfectly confident--"I know God has heard me." His silence is the proof that He has. As long as you have the idea that God will bless you in answer to prayer, He will do it, but He will never give you the grace of silence. If Jesus Christ is bringing you into the understanding that prayer is for the glorifying of His Father, He will give you the first sign of His intimacy--silence.

Amen

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?”

Answer: to share god’s love?

What is god’s love?

Today the definition of love is the outpouring of one personality in fellowship with another personality. Love is a two way experience, so today is not only the day we plant the seed, but it is a day of love. Today was not your decision to be here, today God apprehended you to be here through one way or another. Today is the day that you take one step forward as a Christian because today is not just about hugging people, it also about growth, OUR GROWTH. It isn’t easy standing there and putting yourselves out of your comfort zone, but because you are here today, a part of you will grow with whatever seeds you plant.

So now ask yourself “WHY are we doing this?” NO it isn’t lame, no it isn’t pointless. We’re doing this to share god’s love, for affection is never wasted. I’m asking you and convicting you to be genuine today otherwise it is a waste and you can yourself ‘what’s the point in coming today’. Today is the day we take a step outside of our hypocrisy, outside of our pride, to show people we authentically care. I want to say that again hug people because in your heart you have a desire to show them you love them. If in today there is a moment where you feel afraid, embrace that moment, do not let today be a waste, embrace it and dive into it. When God asks you about today, will you be able to say that you gave it your all, or will you regret that you had an opportunity and never seized it. Once again, search inside yourself and ask “Why am I here?”

I know it sounds like I’m joking when I say to some of you, that I love you. But in all honesty I really do. I remember Pastor Yang asked me, from now on can you pray for the EM boys (And girls). I did so last night and I will do so today before we go out. I truly love you, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. I spend hours getting to know you guys on msn, I spend hours planning FNO with Helena, we discuss how we can serve each and every one of you. I hope that my service and the other teachers’ service may be an example of love.

Today, some people will see our signs, and think “how are they sharing god’s love? That sounds ridiculous”. How did we define love?, as, the outpouring of one personality in the fellowship of another personality. Our goal is to share with those people who don’t understand God’s love, we’re sharing with them a glimpse of what it truly is. I want you to do as Paul says:

I do not care whether you love me or not, I am willing to destitute myself completely, not merely for your sakes, but that I may get you to god.”

(Destitute: means to ruin one self)

Remember that as you go today, as you face rejection, as you face some people who will want nothing to do with us, remember this line “I do not care whether you love me or not, I am willing to ruin myself completely, not merely for your sakes, but that I may get you to God”.

Today you are serving God by being servants of other men. The real test of today is not preaching the gospel, but washing peoples’ feet aka hugging them, that is, doing the things that do not count in the actual estimate of men but count everything in the estimate of God.

quick thought:

i missed the clone wars episode today, but luckily for the magic of the internet i got to download the episode. anyone who doesn't like star wars, dont be haters. that show is cool and the movie was on at 9pm, so i watched part of it. and to explain why any young boy would like star wars: spaceships...cool, weird aliens and robots...cool, having awesome mind tricks...very cool, having a sword that lights up and glows...ridiculously COOL. so watch it, then we can all talk about it and watch andrew song do tie-fighter impressions!
